Obtaining your Credentials from USPS

In order to use USPS shipping rate calculation in TurnLink, you will need to sign up for a USPS Web Tools User ID by filling out the form (pictured below) located at https://secure.shippingapis.com/registration/. Once you have completed the signup process, you will be emailed a User ID from USPS.

USPS will first setup your account in test mode after you signup and the ID they send you will not work inside TurnLink as it will be for testing only. You will need to email USPS that you would like to take your account to production mode. Send the email to the  USPS Internet Customer Care Center’s email address of icustomercare@usps.com. In your message to USPS let them know that you are working with 3rd party software which will provide you with real-time rates and the application is already tested  and works so you do not need to complete any testing and are ready for a production User ID and password. For example,

Please provide us with a production User ID and Password.

We are working with a 3rd party application that already works properly for rating through your API so we DO NOT NEED to test with the test User ID.

The application is TurnLink Sales Manager provided by TurnTree Solutions and has several clients already using the USPS API.

Once you receive your production User ID and password, you can go to TurnLink> Setup > Integrations > Shipping and add a new carrier for USPS. For USPS you should make up a name for the Account Number as this will be the field that will help you identify which account it is. Enter the User ID in the Login field and the Password in the Password field. Enter the same password in the API Access Key field that you entered in the Password field, set the additional fields for origin zip code, additional weight, and handling fee and save your settings.
